RED BANK, NJ -  The following programs will be held at Red Bank Library during the month of February:

Author, artist, journalist and teacher Tova Navarra will discuss her newest book, New Jersey Artists Through Time at the Red Bank Public Library on Wednesday, February 10, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. This program will begin the Library’s 2016 “Author Talks” book series.

This ground-breaking volume features many of the New Jersey’s painters, sculptors, photographers, printmakers, illustrators, and cartoonists, and celebrates New Jersey’s 350th anniversary, 2014. Although many artists are now gone, their legacies are vibrant; the ones who are still working and exhibiting are creating important legacies for the future in this comprehensive overview of artwork. How exciting that many of these artists are known nationally and internationally!

Some of the local artists included in Ms. Navarra’s book are Judy Martin, of Red Bank; Grace Graupe-Pillard, well known for her Red Bank studio where she worked and taught for years; George Tice, of Middletown; and Ms. Navarra, herself. You will get to know them, discover more about them, and be delighted that New Jersey’s art world stands tall and most proudly between New York and Philadelphia.

A Red Bank resident, Ms. Navarra is a member of the Monmouth County Arts Council and the Guild of Creative Art. Her work includes collage, construction, pastel, watercolor and mixed media. She is also a former art critic of the Asbury Park Press, and a nationally syndicated columnist of Copley News Service, San Diego, and CA. Ms. Navarra is the author of 30 books on various topics, including a book of her photographs, The New Jersey Shore: A Vanishing Splendor, published in 1985.

*Ms. Navarra will have copies of New Jersey Artists Through Time available for purchase and signing. This program is FREE and no registration is required.

The previous sessions have generated enlightening and informative discussions, and this one promises the same. We are pleased to have Red Bank Chief of Police, Darren McConnell join us for the program. Registration is required. This program is FREE.
