ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Christmas cheer will be a little brighter for children in need this year.  Following a tradition of many years, a local businessman and resident has collected,at his place of business, toys to distribute to children in the region who might otherwise have few toys on Christmas morning.

The Secret Santa is an anonymous businessman who works with the Atlantic Highlands Police Department to distribute the gifts to girls and boys in the area.  PBA President and Atlantic Highlands Patrolman Steve Vogt said, "He shows up with a bag of toys.  We contact schools and anyone we think might need an extra hand.  We contact other departments for families that might need some help."

The gifts are usually for boys and girls ages 1 month to 10 years old.  "There are a lot of stuffed animals," said Vogt.

The Atlantic Highlands Police Benevolent Association and Atlantic Highlands Police Chief Jerry Vasto have worked together for at least 10 years to help distribute the donated gifts.

"This year we had quite a bit so we contacted Highlands (Police Department)," Vogt said.  The gifts were delivered today to a charitable organization in that town for distribution to children of Highlands.
