This year, the Santa Runs begin Dec. 7 and will run through Dec. 10, with Dec. 11 set aside as a makeup for inclement weather.
Each night, starting at 6 p.m., Santa and his team of specially trained elves from the Atlantic Highlands First Aid Squad will visit one part of town until 9 p.m. They’ll bring along a couple of ambulances, play holiday music, stop along the way for residents to visit and take pictures with Santa.
The AHFAS will also continue its tradition of building a food drive into these nights. Since starting the food drive, the AHFAS has collected thousands of non-perishable food items, which are then donated to the local food pantry.
As with previous years, residents will be able to track where Santa will be each night by following the squad on Twitter at www.twitter.com/ahfirstaid, on Facebook www.facebook.com/ahfirstaid, or by visiting the squad’s website at www.ahfirstaid.org. A map highlighting which area of town the squad will visit each night is posted below and Santa and his team will provide real-time updates via social media.
Anyone with special needs or those who want to check on where Santa is headed can call the AHFAS’ non-emergency number (732) 291-8118 before 6 p.m. each night.
The AHFAS is an all-volunteer organization that provides around-the-clock emergency medical and rescue services to the borough of Atlantic Highlands and occasionally the surrounding communities.
