ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS -- The borough Shade Tree Commission is inviting donations to a special "Trees for Tomorrow Fund" to be used to plant trees throughout town in tribute to relatives, friends and worthy residents, past and present.
Among the first projects to be underwritten by the fund is a line of trees planned along the section of West avenue known as Hennessey boulevard between Center and W. Highland avenues.
Donations are tax deductible and will be used specifically for trees which will serve as lasting tributes.
"Trees are a wonderful way to honor and recognize friends and loved ones while contributing to the health and well-being of the whole community," according to Louise Donoghue, commission co-chairman.
"I urge you to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday, wedding, anniversary, graduation or the life of a loved one with a gift that will last for decades," Mrs. Donoghue said. "In addition to a commemorative card to the person of your choosing, your gift will be recognized on our website as well as our Facebook page."
Donations may be made in any amount.
Application forms are available at Borough Hall. Checks should be made out to the A.H. Shade Tree Commission and sent to 100 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.
