ASBURY PARK, NJ - The Philoptochos Society is the women's organization of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church of Asbury Park, N.J., which is now located in Ocean Township.  The word, Philoptochos, is Greek and literally translates to “Friends of the Poor”.  The Philoptochos Society is a non-profit charitable organization that supports various charitable works locally and throughout the nation.  Our mission includes but is not limited to aiding the poor, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the victims of disasters along with, promoting charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Your support in advertising our Fall Luncheon will help us to raise funds to continue to help those in need.

On Saturday, October 17, 2015, the Saint George Philoptochos Society will host its Annual Fall Luncheon at the Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ, at 11:30 AM.  It is an exciting, fun filled day and this year our theme is the “The Power of Women” who open their arms to the poor and extend their hands to the needy, Proverbs 31:20.  It is our pleasure to have Eleni N. Gage, author of the novels, "The Ladies of Managua", "North of Ithaka"  and "Other Waters" as our guest speaker. In addition to this very special guest speaker, we will have an amazing on-premise Gift Auction, Raffles with wonderful gifts and prizes along with a Bake Sale filled among other things with traditional home baked Greek goodies.

The donation is $60.00 per person or $550.00 for a table of ten, which includes a wonderful lunch of a duet of Citrus Smeared Grouper and Chicken Francaise.  Everyone that attends is guaranteed to spend an exciting Saturday with good food, an inspiring guest speaker, and the opportunity to both shop and win prizes.  Best of all, everyone will have the good feeling of knowing that the money spent is going to much appreciated and needed charitable works.

Proceeds are to benefit the St George Philoptochos charitable works. For reservations, please call 732-531-7321.
