Monmouth County Historian Randall Gabrielan will be present to talk about the visionary nineteenth century entrepreneurs, artists, athletes and entertainers who transformed the quiet Jersey Shore to a premier vacation destination. He will share excerpts from his new book new book Birth of the Jersey Shore: The Personalities & Politics that Built America’s Resort.
Gabrielanis a member and past executive director of the Monmouth County Historical Commission, has written and lectured extensively on local history, and is a popular speaker on New Jersey and New York topics.
The Atlantic Highlands Historical Society Porch Supper will be held at the Strauss Mansion, 27 Prospect Circle in Atlantic Highlands, at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, August 19. It is free and open to the public, and all are invited to bring a dish to share and enjoy good company and an interesting talk.
