RED BANK, NJ - The First Annual Red Bank Mayor's Charity Ball was a big success! The sold-out affair was held on May 1 in support the Red Bank Public Library and the Parker Clinic. In total, the event raised $26,000 for these two special organizations! The Red Bank Public Library received its $13,000 share at the Council Meeting on June 24. The Board of Trustees along with the Library staff and patrons are grateful to the citizens of the greater Red Bank area and the local business community whose generous support of this event will benefit the Library greatly.
The Library announces the addition of more hours! Beginning Monday, July 6, the Red Bank Public Library will be expanding its regular hours of operation! In order to provide the public with greater access to the Library's resources, services and programs, morning hours will be added to Mondays and evening hours to Wednesdays! The new schedule will be: Mondays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Wednesdays 1 p.m. – 9 p.m., Thursdays 1 p.m. – 9 p.m., Fridays 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Children are invited to enjoy regular and special programming in the Avice Noblett Children’s Room of the Red Bank Public Library in July.
The Annual Summer Reading Program will continue throughout the month of July. This program encourages early literacy and motivates children to a enjoy summer of reading, learning, and fun! Children may earn prizes for reading and are invited to enjoy an array of activities based on this year’s theme -- “Every Hero Has a Story.” Children ages 3 to 12 may register for the program any time during the month of July. As part of our Summer Reading Program, the Children's Room will host a Super Summer Hero Party on Saturday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. Kids are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero costumes and come to enjoy games, crafts, treats and some special surprises! Also from the Children's Room, a session ofSuper Sci-Time for preschool age children will be held on Wednesday July 15 at 1:30 p.m. and a Super Hero Movie Nightwill take place as usual on the 4th Thursday of the month on July 23 at 6:30 p.m.These programs are free, but registration is required. During the summer months, the Children’s Room will continue to offer free drop-in Story Times for young children with a caregiver on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. Join us for quick, fun stories, musical activities, and a craft.
The Adult Summer Reading Program continues in the month of July, with the theme “Every Hero has a story, and every story has a hero.” The more books you read, the more chances you have to win a prize. Patrons can register at the Reference Desk any time. Participants in the program will meet on Saturday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m. for refreshments, book review sharing, arts and crafts and a prize for the reader of the most books for the month of June. Celebrate the end of the program on Saturday, August 8 at 11:00 a.m. at a social event with refreshments and prizes galore!
The Red Bank Public Library in partnership with Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County
offers Conversational English classes for adults 18 and over through August 13 on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The classes are free and registration is not required. The classes, led by volunteers trained by Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County, assist those whose native language is not English to learn the language in an informal, stress-free environment in which they can meet and practice speaking with others who are also learning English. Free English as a Second Language classes for adults 18 and over are offered regularly at the Red Bank Public Library in partnership with the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County from September to June. Thenext meeting of the “Artists’ Workshop” at the Red Bank Public Library is on Thursday, July 2, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Artists seeking inspiration, motivation, and time to devote to their work are invited to attend the “Artists’ Workshop” on the first Thursday of each month. Red Bank artist Joe Bergholm is the Workshop’s Artist-in-Residence and works with the artists as a group and individually, offering suggestions for subjects as well as guidance in principles of art such as color, composition, and the selection and use of materials. The “Artists’ Workshop” is free and no registration is required. Participants should bring their own drawing and painting materials, although oils are not permitted because of ventilation concerns. The program is supported by a generous contribution from the Friends of the Red Bank Public Library.
The Red Bank Public Library is pleased to host the“The River Read” Reading Series, dedicated to bringing original poetry and other literary genres to Red Bank residents and visitors.Sessions have featured readers plus an open-mic portion.The group meets the second Saturday of each month at the Library from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Come to listen—come to share.All are welcome.

The Red Bank Public Library offers free weekly one-hour Yoga for Adults on Fridays from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. The class is appropriate for all levels of yoga experience. Please bring your own yoga mat. Registration is not required. Attendance is based on a first come, first served basis up to a total of 20 people.
The Jersey Inchkins is a club made up of adults who do "very little work.” Club members build houses, rooms, scenes, and vignettes in miniature, usually on a scale of one inch to one foot. Jersey Inchkins meet at the library on the third Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. The group welcomes new members 18 and older interested in developing their skills in this creative field.
The Red Bank Senior Center in cooperation with the Red Bank Public Library hosts a book discussion group on the last Monday of each month at the Senior Center at 1:00 p.m. except in December. Red Bank Borough residents age 60 and over are welcome to join the Center and participate in this or any of its

These new resources come to us via the Library Ideas suite of services, which includes Freegal streaming music and video, Freading (e-books), Rocket Languages, and Universal Class. Rocket Languages provides streaming or downloadable instruction in speaking, writing, listening, and reading for a variety of languages including Spanish, Hindi and Sign Language. Universal Class offers over 500 non-credit continuing education courses for personal and professional development. The next meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Red Bank Public Library will be on Thursday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the library. These meetings are open to the public and are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room unless otherwise noted. The scheduled dates for the remainder of the year are as follows: August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19 and December 17.
