med cabinetATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Atlantic Highlands Police Chief Jerry Vasto activated the Swift 911 Emergency Alert System to announce Operation Medicine Cabinet, a program to provide residents an opportunity to rid their cabinets of expired and unused medicine.

In conjunction with the US Drug Enforcement Agency, the borough police department will collect unwanted medicine at headquarters, 100 First Avenue, Atlantic Highlands from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2014.  The program aims to keep drugs out of the hands of children and drug abusers.

 

A specially marked container is available at police headquarters to accept your unwanted medicine bottles.  Law Enforment officers will be available to assist.

According to the DEA, 70% of the people who abuse pharmaceutical drugs get them from the medicine cabinets of family and friends.
