ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ - Mayor Frederick Rast and the Atlantic Highlands Community Events Committee are excitedly preparing for the Seventh Annual Mayor’s Ball. This year, it will be held at the Beacon Hill Country Club, 8 Beacon Hill Road, Atlantic Highlands on September 26th at 7:00PM.
In 2007, Mayor Frederick Rast III launched The Community Events Committee as a non–political effort to raise funds for community organizations. To date, the Committee has donated over $100,000 to local groups.
This year, the AHCEC has decided to fund three groups who all do outstanding work in the community. The groups selected are: The Henry Hudson Regional School PTO, who used much of the funds they had collected for school projects to benefit the victims of Super Storm Sandy. Now, they need to replace those funds in order to complete the original projects. The Atlantic Highlands L.E.O.s, who have requested funds to complete worthwhile projects in town. One of the projects they are working on is hosting a “Senior Prom” for our community’s mature citizens. The third recipient is the Genevieve Hawley Foundation. The group gives scholarships to students who volunteer in the community. The Foundation also supports other local philanthropic efforts throughout the year.
By popular demand, the group is bringing back Tumbling Dice to provide casino gambling and to add to the fun, this year - Horse Racing! You can “own” a race horse or you can “name” a race and compete against your family and friends!
AHCEC hopes the community will support their efforts. Information can be obtained by calling Mickey Rast at 732-433-8510 or Cindy Fligor at 732-291-9102. You can purchase tickets at the Salon@68, 68 First Avenue, Atlantic Highlands
