ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS ---The Rev. Paul F. Rack will begin a series of sermons looking at the Apostle Paul's letter to the Galatians during the 11 a.m. Sunday service at the First Presbyterian Church.
The pastor's sermon, entitled "Deliverance," is drawn from the Book of Galatians 1:1-5 and may be the earliest New Testament book written, according to Rack.
"It gives us a valuable snapshot of what the first followers of Jesus believed," according the pastor. "Here in the beginning, Paul says it's all about being delivered by Christ from 'this present evil age' dominated by the injustices and inequalities of the Roman Empire. What does such deliverance look like, and how do we inhabit it, in the 21st century?" Racks asks.
The pastor will also administer Holy Communion during the service while David Nunez will provide the music.
Services at the 124-year-old church at Third and E. Highland Avenues are being held in the church's Fellowship Hall in the rear of the sanctuary as part of the seasonal casual program which includes bagels and coffee for attendees.
Child care and activities for all children are provided during all services held at the church. Sunday School will resume in the fall and all area children are welcome.
