MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Meteorologists predict four to eight inches of snow will fall in our area by late afternoon. Please remember that the Township’s first priority during a snow storm is to keep primary roads open for fire and emergency vehicles. Work crews are currently plowing, salting and sanding primary roads to keep them open as the snow continues to fall. In the event of an emergency on a local street, a work crew is diverted to clear a path to the location for emergency vehicles.

Snow Plowing Procedures – Township snow plowing procedures require that primary and secondary arterial roads be plowed earliest so that they are passable followed by local roads. There are more than 1,200 local roads in Middletown, totaling well over 300 miles. These streets are often small, with numerous intersections, cul-de-sacs and dead ends and are often typified by street parking on both sides of the road.
Please use caution if you must travel. Work crews will be working into the night to plow, salt and sand roads. Approximately 75 trucks are activated as necessary along with about 100 personnel who man vehicles, shovel municipal sidewalks and perform other related tasks.
Sidewalks – For the safety of pedestrians, please remember that township ordinances require that sidewalks be cleared of snow and ice 24 hours AFTER the snowfall ends.
