NEW YORK – The Coast Guard is resuming its search for a missing fisherman in the vicinity of Highlands, N.J., today.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York, in Staten Island, N.Y., received a call from Ray Phillips, reporting that his friend Edward Broderick had been missing since approximately 10 p.m., Saturday. Phillips last heard from Broderick at approximately 6 p.m., stating that his vessel was en route to a clamming facility in Highlands. 

Broderick was last seen wearing gray or green sweatpants.

A rescue boat crew from Station Sandy Hook, a helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City and the New Jersey State Police Department had been searching for Broderick for more than 14 hours Sunday. 

Broderick’s submerged vessel was located and identified outside the marine where he originally intended to pull into. The N.J. State Police Sonar and Dive Team is en route to thoroughly search the vessel. The Coast Guard continues to search the shorelines for the missing man.
