MIDDLETOWN, NJ – Eight Monmouth County residents, including two from Middletown, are joining the ranks of the Middletown Township Police Department.

Ceremonial oaths of office were issued to the Patrol Officers during the August Township Committee meeting .

The department’s newest recruits are Patrol Officers Nicholas J Haines, Christopher P. Menendez, Joshua P. Midose, Rosannie A. Murillo, Savvas Roumeliotis, Brendan B. Santiago, Jason T Troshane, and John F. Walsifer II. They will attend the Cape May County Police Academy followed by the department’s Field Training Program, said Police Chief Robert Oches.

It’s an honor to issue the oaths of office to our newest police officers,” said Mayor Gerard P. Scharfenberger. “I’m sure they will be valuable additions to our outstanding Police Department.”

Biographies

Patrol Officer Nicholas J. Haines

Patrol Officer Nicholas J. Haines, a resident of Brick Township, earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rutgers University in 2005. He is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and is on his alma mater’s Dean’s List. Haines is also the recipient of a Joint Resolution from New Jersey State Legislature for “displaying uncommon courage and heroism in rescuing a swimmer” while working at Martel’s in Point Pleasant.   

 

Patrol Officer Christopher P. Menendez

Patrol Officer Christopher P. Menendez is a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. During his service as a Military Police Officer, Menendez earned an Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and a NATO Medal. Menendez, a Keyport resident, earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Brookdale Community College this year. He currently serves as a volunteer firefighter in Keyport.                 

 

Patrol Office Joshua C. Midose

Patrol Officer Joshua C. Midose, a Middletown resident, has an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Brookdale Community College and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from New Jersey City University.

 

Patrol Officer Rosannie A. Murillo

Patrol Officer Rosannie A. Murillo is a Middletown resident and a veteran of the United States Army Reserve.  During her military service she served as sergeant and earned an Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device. Murillo is a trained Hazardous Materials Technician.  She is working toward an associate’s degree from Brookdale Community College. She speaks Spanish.

Patrol Officer Savvas Roumeliotis 

Patrol Officer Savvas Roumeliotis, a Union Beach residentearned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Ramapo College this year. He speaks Spanish and Greek.  

 

Patrol Officer Brendan B. Santiago

Patrol Officer Brendan B. Santiago was previously employed by the state Department of Corrections. Santiago, a Manalapan resident, is working towards an associate’s degree at Brookdale Community College. He speaks Spanish.

 

Patrol Officer Jason T Troshane

Patrol Officer Jason T Troshane previously worked as a Class II Special in Seaside Heights. Troshane, a martial arts instructor, has a fourth degree black belt in karate and a first degree black belt in kickboxing. Troshane, a resident of Marlboro, has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Rutgers University.

 

Patrol Officer John F. Walsifer II

Patrol Officer Walsifer II, was previously employed as a Class I Law Enforcement Officer for the Avon Police Department. Walsifer, a Belmar resident, has an associate’s degree in business administration from Brookdale Community College. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University.
