MIDDLETOWN, NJ - At 8:02 PM on Saturday June 15th, 2013, the Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to 1 Monmouth Avenue in the East Keansburg section of the Township for a “possible structure fire” at that location.  Approximately 30 firefighters from 2 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department (East Keansburg and Port Monmouth Fire Companies), under the command of Department Chief John D’Altilio, responded to the scene.   Upon his arrival Chief D’Altilio observed heavy smoke coming from the second story of the residential structure and immediately directed the firefighters to deploy a hose line to the interior of the structure.  The firefighters found the source of the smoke and quickly attacked a fire in the walls of a storage area on the second floor.  A hole was cut in the roof to ventilate the heat and smoke out of the building.  The fire was brought under control by 8:15 PM.

Also assisting at the scene were the MTFD Air Unit and the Middletown and Port Monmouth First Aid Squads.

There were no reported injuries.

The fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Bureau.
