KEYPORT, NJ - It has become an annual Thanksgiving “Homecoming” tradition at Trinity Restaurant in Keyport; the Keyport High School Casual Reunion. The Casual Reunion is open to all KHS Graduates and has been attended by alumni from the 1940’s to the 2000’s. The 2012 Casual Reunion will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at Trinity Restaurant,
84 Broad Street in Keyport at 8:00 PM. The Reunion will have a purpose greater than reconnecting with old friends this year; it will be a Benefit to support the “KHS Family” that has been so severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Charles Merla, proprietor of Trinity Restaurant, was born and raised in Keyport and is a KHS Grad. In the immediate aftermath of the storm Charlie began planning ways to assist his “Bayshore Family.” He knew that his fellow KHS Grads would wish to do all they could do to help those most impacted by the storm. Keyport and Union Beach are small seaside towns that are entwined not only by the common High school that most here have attended but also by the friendships and families that have been born there. He stated, “everyone from KHS has roots and connections in both towns, we all know many or most of the families who have been so severely impacted by this storm; they are old friends, someone we dated in HS, families we have known all of our lives, our neighbors. Every KHS Grad has been touched in some way by this tragic storm. I know that all KHS Grads are looking for ways to help. The annual Reunion was the perfect choice for a Benefit. We want to help those in our own “backyard” so all funds raised at the Casual Reunion will go directly to the Keyport First Aid Squad “Hurricane Sandy Fund.”
Entertainment will be provided by Union Beach band, Madison Avenue who will be taking the stage at 9:00 PM. Trinity is asking for a $20 donation from all who attend to support the “Hurricane Sandy Fund.” Every dollar donated will go to the Keyport First Aid Squad “Hurricane Sandy Fund” and will stay in our own “backyard!” The KHS Casual Reunion provides an opportunity for healing and helping to “RESTORE THE BAYSHORE”
Classmates who live out of state or who cannot attend the KHS Casual Reunion can visit the KHS Class of 77 Website: www.khsclass77.com and make a donation to the Keyport First Aid “Hurricane Sandy Fund” with a major credit card or send checks made out to the Keyport First Aid Squad c/o Charles Merla, Trinity Restaurant, 84 Broad Street, Keyport, NJ 07735.
All KHS Grads are welcome! Trinity is hoping for a huge show of support by KHS Grads! For more information contact Charles Merla, Trinity Restaurant at 732-888-1998 or Marlene Flynn Shea at 732-291-5514.
