OCEAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Philoptochos Society is the women's organization of the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church of Ocean Township which was formerly in Asbury Park, NJ.  The word, Philoptochos, is Greek and literally translates to “Friends of the Poor”.  The Philoptochos Society is a non-profit charitable organization that supports various charitable works locally and throughout the nation.  Our mission includes but is not limited to aiding the poor, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the victims of disasters along with, promoting charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and participation in the activities of the Greek Orthodox community.

On Saturday, October 20, 2012, the Saint George Philoptochos Society will host its Annual Fall Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Eagle Oaks Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ, at 11:30 AM.  This event is our largest fund raising event of the year and all proceeds benefit our charitable works.  For tickets call: 732-229-3511 

It is an exciting, fun filled day which will include a Fashion Show of The Worth Collection,  provided by Jaime Schultz and The W Line, provided by Michelle Winters.  In addition Macy's will be featuring highlights from its fur collection.  This day also features an amazing On-premise Gift Auction, Raffles with wonderful gifts and prizes along with a Bake Sale filled among other things with traditional Greek goodies, and the sale of the St. George Philoptochos Society ladies' fabulous Greek American Cookbook which is the culmination of fantastic recipes many of which were passed down for generations in their families.  The donation is $50.00 per person, which includes a wonderful lunch of a duet of Fresh Atlantic Salmon paired with a Breast of Chicken in a White Wine Sauce.  Everyone that attends is guaranteed to spend an entertaining Saturday with good food, entertainment, the opportunity to shop, and win prizes.  Best of all, everyone will have the good feeling of knowing that the money spent is going to much appreciated and needed charitable works.
