ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS -- The Rev. Michael Riley will preach Sunday on lessons from Nehemiah on keeping hope alive in the face of long odds and opposition.

The pastor's sermon during the 10 a.m. worship service at the First Presbyterian Church is entitled "Making Hopes Happen."

Riley, who is a columnist for the Asbury Park Press, will also continue his "mystery bag" children's sermon series during which youngsters try to "stump the pastor" by placing personal "treasures" in brown paper bags. The minister then creates a message from the contents of a bag.

In addition to being a columnist, Riley he is a staff writer and editorial writer at The Press. His column, now called the "Irreverent Reverend,"  appears on Fridays.

The 122-year-old, handicapped accessible church at Third and E. Highland Aves. has extra parking available in a new municipal lot next to the Christian Education Building on East Highland avenue.

Child care for four-year-olds and younger continues to be provided during the regular worship service.
