ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS -- The Deacons of First Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Strawberry Festival following Sunday's 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, June 10th.
All members and friends of the church are invited to attend.
During the service, the Rev. Michael Riley will preach on "The Best and Worst of Judge Gideon," a sermon that looks at the Old Testament judge who made the smartest move of his life and the dumbest in rapid secession. The story serves as a warning to all of us who think they have all the answers.
The adult choir, directed by David Nunez, will present special music, "Lord God, Almighty" as its introit and "Walk With Me" as the offertory anthem.
During the service, the pastor will continue his "mystery bag" children's sermon series during which youngsters try to "stump the pastor" by placing personal "treasures" in brown paper bags. The minister then creates a message from the contents of a bag.
Sunday School, which is open to all youngsters, begins following the children's sermon.
The 122-year-old, handicapped accessible church at Third and E. Highland Aves. has extra parking available in the new municipal lot next to the Christian Education Building on East Highland Avenue.
