Middletown's Senior Center welcomes Middletown residents 60 and older to become members. A variety of special events, trips and weekly activities, are offered every month. Transportation is available to registered members by reservation. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Events are held in the East Wing unless otherwise noted. Joyful Heart Tea

Sip tea during a presentation from a cardiologist from Meridian Health’s Women’s Heart Connection.

Monday Movie

Eat pizza and watch a new release. Lunch is 11:30 am and costs $5. Movie begins at noon and is free.

 

Tuesday, May 15, 1 pm

Living History

Seniors will meet eight-graders at the neighboring Bayshore Middle School to discuss World War II and show some personal memorabilia. All are invited to listen to the discussion. You can walk there from the Center or catch a ride with Transporation. Parking limited at the school.

Older Americans Luncheon

This year’s salute to seniors will be held at the Shore Café in Hazlet. Choice of entrée. Entertainment provided. Cost is $30 per person. Sign up by May 10th.

 

Monday, May 21

Sandy Hook Picnic

Join us for some outdoor recreation and a $5 box lunch for this second annual event. Sign up with the transportation coordinator.

Help plant a new community garden in the back of the Senior Center. Seniors needed for the Garden Club to help maintain the garden. Vegetable plants and gardening supply donations welcome.

Free screenings for podiatry, chiropractic, blood pressure and more. Get information and giveaways. Light refreshments served.

The Bayshore Middle School SAVE (Students Against Violence) Club will be hosting bingo on this day. The students raised funds for the bingo prizes and refreshments.

Hunterdon Hills Playhouse

Take a bus trip to Bally’s Casino. Cost is $20 per person. Includes $25 comp.

River Belle Cruise

Enjoy lunch at the Shrimp Box and a 90-minute cruise on the Manasquan River. $60 per person. Includes bus and tips. Tickets go on sale June 5th.

 

New! Knitting & Sewing Group

Seniors and staff are starting a Knitting and Sewing Group that would meet on a Monday or Wednesday. Projects would benefit charity. Materials would be supplied by participants. See Kourtney to join.

 

Wanted! Bridge Players

Love Bridge? Bridge players are invited to Senior Center for a weekly Wednesday morning bridge game. New members are needed. Group meets at 10:00 a.m.

 

Nutrition Center Specials

The Nutrition Center is operated by Interfaith Neighbors and located at the Senior Center. The center offers lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 a. m. to 2:00 p.m. Specials this month include a Mother’s Day Brunch with a bounty of breakfast and lunch selections on May 8; a Memorial Day Kick-Off on May 24th with your choice of hamburger or hot dog; and a Chef’s Salad on May 31st.
