Tuesday, Apr 24th @ 7:00pm – Creating a Budget. The first in our Financial Literacy Programs. As part of Smart Money Week, learn how to create a personal or business-related budget using Microsoft Excel.

Wednesday, Apr 25th @ 6:00pm – Job Search Skills for the Age 40+ Worker. This hands-on workshop, presented by Nancy Anderson, looks at the statistics facing the older workers and evaluates the skills and competencies needed to change the word DIScourage to ENcourage. Designed for the age 40+ individual looking to change careers, change jobs, or reenter the workforce after an extended absence. Topics include Motivational, Career and Transferable Skills Assessment tools, choosing the appropriate resume format, and examining a job description for key job skills and matches. Also covered will be networking skills, interviewing and follow-up activities. A look at the technological changes in the job search is also reviewed. Take-away material will included a number of valuable resources.
Thursday, Apr 26th @ 7:00pm – Managing Income and Expenses; Getting Here to There. Wise financial management requires a series of daily choices. With a spending plan, your choices are prioritized to help you stay on track and follow the plan. Writing down a spending plan that forecasts income and expenses is the single most important activity that can help you reach your destination. Learn how to take control of your financial situation; calculate net worth; create a budget; monitor your progress; manage the flow of income and expenses; comparison shop; and protect your assets. Workbook included. Presented by Money Management International as part of Smart Money Week.
Wednesday, Apr 25th @ 7:00pm – Writers' Group. To support writers in their creative process, this group discusses the writing process, with a focus on providing active, supportive critiques of each other's work. Adults and teens who have a goal of publishing their fiction or non-fiction work are invited to attend.
All attendees should bring four copies of a 2-to-6 page piece they would like to have reviewed during the session. Format is small-group critique circles (3-4 people share their work, taking turns offering constructive criticism of each other's work). Saturday, Apr 28th @ 1:00pm - For our third annual Star Wars Day, the 501st Northeast Legion will be returning in costume to pose for pictures, sign autographs and give out free swag. Costumes are welcome, as well as your favorite Star Wars toy. There will be lots of Star Wars and other sci-fi items on display. No registration required and all are welcome.
Weekly LEGO Night
A drop-in program for school-age children, tweens and teens. LEGOs are provided to create original awesome structures.

Saturday, Apr 28th @ 9:30am – SAT Practice Test. Free test for 11th and 12th graders. Scores will be mailed to the students' homes. Practice test will be administered by Kaplan Testing Center proctor. Bring a calculator and two #2 pencils. Register online at www.MTPL.org.

Monday, Apr 23rd @ 10:00am – Mother Goose. For ages under 23 months. There will a second session at 11:00am. Specify which session when registering.
Monday, Apr 23rd @ 3:30pm – Reading Buddies. Teen volunteers are paired with children in grades K-3 to engender a love of books in the younger children and encourage them to practice their developing reading skills. This popular program is a great way to help reluctant readers see how "cool" reading can be and to keep avid readers interested in books.

Wednesday, Apr 25th @ 3:45pm – Dress for Mess: Tissue Paper and Starch. April is National Umbrella Month. Learn the science of liquids. Experiment by making pictures with tissue paper and liquid starch. For ages 4-5. Attendee MUST give 24-hour cancellation notice to allow others on the waiting list to attend. There will be a second session at 4:30pm. Specify which session when registering.
