Atlantic Highlands, NJ - FilmOneFest received 31 entries for the first ever FilmOneFest photo contest - and all were terrific.  The judge, professional photographer Jeff Smith had a hard time choosing a winner.

Here are his selections: one winner, and two honorable mentions.

The winner of $50 and a framed copy of the 8"x10" photograph is Rebecca Kilduff, for her photo "Popcorn and Program".

Two Honorable Mentions were awarded:

"Face Painting at the Festival" by Cheryl Auditor

"Paint Jobs" by  Bobbi Greenfield

Jeff Smith had this to say about the winning entires:

The Winner is #1 “Popcorn and Program” - This shot exemplifies a good still photograph - which is a complete story in one interesting image. It is simple - with 3 elements all of which contribute to the narrative, arraigned in a graphically pleasing manner. This photo tells you everything you need to know about the Festival.

Honorable Mention: #12 “Face Painting at the Festival”

Again, a clear message of what is happening and for those who know Atlantic Highlands, where (it is happening).  Well composed with the eye being led to the action.  Aside from the fact that I HATE this overused “HDR” (High Dynamic Range) technique, here it works by abstracting and giving an illustrative feel to the shot.  One of the few times it works.

Honorable Mention: # 14 “Paint Jobs”

This is a fine use of a montage using PhotoShop; good images well composed and I like the blurred background.
