Asbury Shorts New York: 30th Anniversary “SHORT FILM CONCERT” returns to The Puffin Cultural Forum on Friday August 6th @7:30pm. Teaneck, NJ – Back by popular demand and due to the March Nor’easter, Asbury Shorts NY, celebrating it’s 30th Anniversary, returns to present its acclaimed program of international award winning shorts on Friday, August 6th @7:30pm. Asbury Shorts NY routinely screens classic short films from the past, combined with new international film festival winners. Highlights of the program include two shorts directed by Jason Reitman, whose feature film “Up in the Air” won Best Screenplay at the 2010 Golden Globes and was nominated for six academy awards. Reitman was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for his hit film “JUNO.” The two Sundance Film Festival honorees are: “Consent,” a comedy from 2005 about two young lovers seeking some very special protection before committing romantically and “In God We Trust,” the tale of a recently deceased young man who must return to earth and earn points for admittance to Heaven.  Also featured in the approximately two-hour showcase is “Super Powers” from NY filmmakers Jeremy Kipp Walker and John Walker, winner of “Best Narrative Short Film” at the 2007

Outer Body Experience features Craig Akin on upright bass, Roy Assaf on piano and Eric Neveloff on alto sax. OBE focuses on progressive, cutting edge, underground New York Jazz.

Asbury Shorts Director/Co-Founder, Doug LeClaire, will discuss the general selection process and the specific films being presented. Doug first organized the Asbury Shorts Show in Westbury, Long Island in 1980, along with four fellow communications graduates of the New York Institute of Technology. He is an award winning Line Producer of national television commercials, network cable promos and two independent feature films: “Greetings from the Shore” (2006) and “Welcome to the Edge” (2009-currently in post-production).
