Canterbury Art Show
Labor Day weekend, September 2-4
RUMSON, NJ – St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church, is having the Fifth Anniversary of its annual Canterbury Art Show … a Tapestry of the Arts, and is highlighting one of the treasured artists who has participated in the art show every year.
Joe Bergholm is a gallery-represented, award-winning artist from Red Bank. His paintings are held in private, municipal, and corporate collections, and have been published in North Books Light, “Acrylic Works – the Bet of Acrylic Painting”; Golden Paint New Product publications in Japan; and Studio Visit magazine, Volume 17.
Joe is also known for being “Artist in Residence” for the Red Bank Public Library’s monthly Artists’ Workshops, Past President of the Plein Air Painters/Jersey Coast, and is a registered teacher with the School of Color USA.
Joe Bergholm grew up in a family of artists, painting and sculpting as a child. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in engineering and to have a distinguished technical career with Bell Laboratories and AT&T. However, upon retirement he returned to his artistic roots, creating art to celebrate the beauty of our world and to appreciate the infinite variety in color and design.
He has studied with numerous local and national teachers and for the last six years, particularly with Scott Nickerson, specializing in painting the figure and portrait. On his own, he has specialized in understanding color, controlling drying times and creating texture on the painted surface with both representational and abstract art.
