ASBURY PARK - Heavy rain and icey weather didn't put a damper on the Musicians on a Mission and Light of Day Festivities in Asbury Park. The 3rd annual partnership between the two organizations raised over $800 for the Light of Day Foundation. This is the most money raised since the two organizations began working together in 2013.
Musicians on a Mission, an organization dedicated to raising funds for various charitable causes by volunteer driven events based around music, hosted an event at The Saint which featured several local bands, including the Thomas Wesley Stern, the Cranston Dean Band, the Glimmer Grass Band, Matt Scuteri and The Jive Stewards, and The Sunday Blues. The Sunday Blues were a last minute substitution for Caroline Reese and The Drifting Fifth, who could not make it due to the weather.
"We had an amazing day with great music," said Cathy Noblick, co-founder of Musicians on a Mission. "We were also very pleased to see that despite the bad weather, there were still so many people that came out to support both the local bands and the great cause that the Light of Day Foundation champions."
Musician on a Mission seeks to utilize the power of music to create connection and inspire giving through musical events to raise awareness and funds for local charitable organizations. To date, Musicians on a Mission events have benefited over 20 local charities, have featured over 400 local musicians and raising over $30,000.
Light of Day is a 501 c(3) organization that raises awareness and funds research into possible cures, improved treatment, and support those suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
