Asbury Park, NJ - What is Halloween without a themed party and some treats for the neighborhood? On October 31, residents, members of the community and overall music lovers are encouraged to get dolled up in their best roaring 20's attire, grab a non perishable food item and head over to The Saint to be entertained with music and poetry by local artists looking to give back to their community.
Jazz Gypsies, Nicole Greenwood, Paper Streets, Moon Motel, and Nathan Dickinson will work with Move For Hunger to collect food for local food banks and offer those who bring a contribution, a discount into the show. In addition to the food donations, the group of artists will also give a portion of the proceeds to supply blankets for the homeless population of Ocean and Monmouth Counties. Doors will open, at 7:30 p.m. at The Saint located at 601 Main Street in Asbury Park.
“It’s fantastic to see local artists get so heavily involved in the community,” says Move For Hunger’s, Daniel Ratner. “It is that mentality that will make this event a success. There is no better motivation than knowing that one’s donation will go to helping one’s ‘neighbor’.”
Move For Hunger will transport the donations to a local food bank after the event is complete.
While any donation is welcome, the most needed items are canned tuna, meats, vegetables and fruit, pasta, rice, as well as peanut butter and jelly.
