Atlantic Highlands, NJ - On Friday, October 10th at 7:30 pm at the Paper Moon Puppet Theatre, 171 1st Avenue, join the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council in this author lecture seriesfeaturing Kenneth W. Gates, Psy.D.
Dr. Gates will discuss the various theories and related psychological processes (intelligence, personality traits, creative habits and thinking styles) of creativity, explore historical creative figures from different fields, and explain how to enhance the creativity in our own lives.
He spent nine years as an elementary school teacher, 27 as a school psychologist, and overlapping with that for 20 years, a private practice in psychology. His master's thesis was research on creativity. He is an avid orchid grower, believing in the healing power of nature, and works with aspiring artists. He says, "Painting and sculpture teach me to observe better, remind me how hard it is to be a beginner, and most of all, appreciate the achievements of artists."
Dr. Gates has a BA degree in zoology (Drew), an MA in educational psychology (Kean University), and a doctorate in professional psychology from Rutgers in school psychology.
