NENAproductions presents NJ Premiere of SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM.

OCEAN GROVE, NJ - NENAproductions Theater Project proudly opens their 2014-2015 theater season at the Jersey Shore Arts Center with the New Jersey premier of SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM, an intimate look at the Father of the Modern Musical, featuring new arrangements of his most beloved work. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays, October 3 to 11 at 8:00 PM with a matinee on Sunday, October 12 at 3:00 PM.

NENAproductions has secured the rights to this newly released musical that was developed and presented on Broadway at Studio 54 by the Roundabout Theater in the spring of 2010. The Broadway cast included Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams, Tom Wopat, and others.

Hailed as a "revelatory revue full of wonderful moments" and a "funny, affectionate and revealing tribute to musical theater's greatest living composer and lyricist," SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM is an intimate portrait of the famed songwriter in his own words... and music. Through the use of exclusive video interview footage, audiences get an inside look at famed composer Stephen Sondheim’s personal life and artistic process.

His story. His inspiration. His genius. The tapestry of creativity that characterizes Stephen Sondheim remained largely undiscussed, especially by the man himself, until the creation of SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM. Ranging from the beloved to the obscure, the carefully selected two-dozen songs hang from a framework of in-depth video interviews delving into Sondheim's personal life and artistic process. All of the videos used in the Broadway production will be included in the NENA production.

The works of Sondheim have been part of NENA’s repertoire since the company started, including Merrily We Roll Along, Company, Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George, and it’s NJACT award winning production of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM is directed and designed by Nick Montesano with musical direction by Jeff Brown. The cast includes NENA veterans Carole Darche, Jessica Berger, and Arnold Teixeira. Making their NENA debuts, but popular Jersey Shore and New York performers, are John DePalma, Ken Wasser, Gina Whalen, Rose Shargo, and Matthew Goetke.

Performances will take place on the main stage of the Jersey Shore Arts Center, Main Street and Main Avenue, at the entrance to Ocean Grove. All seats are $25 available at 732-988-1007 or www.ticketleap.com. Group sales are available at the same phone number.
