HIGHLANDS, NJ - The Highlands Community Singers will kick off Saturday's entertainment at the annual Clam Festival with a performance at noon, Saturday in Huddy Park.
The group, directed by Louise Donoghue of Atlantic Highlands, will feature a series of clam-oriented songs, "Happy As a Clam," a "Real Nice Clambake" and "Acres of Clams."
Additionally, there will be a solo by veteran musical theater performer Rick Makin of Lincroft, who will sing "This Nearly Was Mine" from "Song Pacific."
The group's accompanist is Tom Elliott, the retired Henry Hudson Regional School musical director. Former Atlantic Highlands Mayor Peter E. Donoghue is the master of ceremonies.
The Highlands Community Singer consists of area singers who perform primarily for area senior citizens.
