HOLMDEL, NJ - The Monmouth Civic Chorus invites singers to a Summer Sing of Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the air-conditioned Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 112 Middletown Road, Holmdel NJ 07733.  The admission fee of $5 at the door includes refreshments and score loan. No advance reservations are needed.

Elijah is a masterpiece, last performed by the Monmouth Civic Chorus in 2000. The music is full of warmth and grandeur as it tells the story of the Biblical prophet. Choral music lovers will recognize classic choruses like “He watching over Israel” and “Lift thine eyes.” The Sing includes Chorus member soloists and piano accompaniment, under the baton of MCC Artistic Director, Dr. Ryan Brandau.

The Sing is an opportunity to get to know the award-winning Monmouth Civic Chorus and Dr. Brandau, who holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the Yale School of Music, an MPhil in historical musicology from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), and a BA in Music from Princeton University. Dr. Brandau is Artistic Director of Princeton Pro Musica and works with the Symphonic Choir of Westminster Choir College.

Singers are invited to audition for the Monmouth Civic Chorus 2014-15 season. Audition appointments are available on Wednesday evenings in Red Bank beginning in September. For membership information or an audition appointment, call 732-933-9333 or visit www.monmouthcivicchorus.org.
