About the January class schedule:

The Practicing Artist and Social Media…Now!

This informative afternoon will demystify some of the challenges facing artists today concerning social media and what can be done to capture a positive online presence. The lecture will be presented by Paul Pinkman, a practicing fine artist and owner of Paul Pinkman Creative Design, LLC, a digital development company that specializes in web, social media, online video and content management systems. The program will be followed by a panel discussion with Eric Valosin and Marc D’Agusto, an open-session Q&A as well as networking with the speakers.  The Practicing Artist and Social Media…Now is $15 prepaid or $18 at the door.  The event will be in two parts with a short break between.  For additional information, visit http://www.collectivearttank.com/" href="http://www.CollectiveArtTank.com">http://www.collectivearttank.com/">www.CollectiveArtTank.com.

College Portfolio Prep Course

Mike O’Loughin, a recent BFA graduate from the Savannah College of Art & Design, will discuss the steps needed to create a strong and dynamic portfolio for art-school application.  The weekly, two-hour class will happen every Tuesday evening from January 15 through February 26.  Attendees are requested to bring 18” x 24” drawing paper, Derwent pencils with kneaded eraser and a sharpener to the first class.  College Portfolio Prep Course is $150 per person for seven classes.  For details, email Mike O’Loughin at " href="mailto:">">.

Indoor Plein Air

Aimed at learning to loosen the painting process, instructor Mike O’Loughlin will project five images of summer landscapes onto the wall for 3 minutes at a time. The image cycle will continue for two hours as students aim to create five complete landscape paintings.  By limiting the time spent on each image, students will be directed to focus on larger ideas of color, shape and value in lieu of finer details that may impede expression. Indoor Plein Air is $15; attendees are required to bring supplies.  For more information, visit http://www.collectivearttank.com/" href="http://www.CollectiveArtTank.com">http://www.collectivearttank.com/">www.CollectiveArtTank.com or email " href="mailto:">.

How to Photograph Your Art

Artists are invited to sit-in with photographer and artist John Vigg to learn how to photograph art.
Vigg will use simple lighting and a digital camera to create submission-ready images of attendees’ artwork.  Attendees will have the opportunity to leave with four photographs of one work of art.  How to Photograph Your Art is $25.  For additional information, email John Vigg at " href="mailto:">"> or call 732-927-1317.

Painting from the Windows

Artist and instructor Mike O’Loughlin will bring the joys of plein air painting indoors to the Collective Art Tank’s new studio on Bangs Avenue in downtown Asbury Park during this two-hour class.  Attendees will be guided by O’Loughlin to use the light of the street lamps to paint a captivating night street scene.  Painting from the Windows is $15.  Attendees are required to bring supplies.  For additional information, visit http://www.collectivearttank.com/" href="http://www.CollectiveArtTank.com">http://www.collectivearttank.com/">www.CollectiveArtTank.com or email " href="mailto:">">

Curatorial Standards

Artist and gallery owner John Vigg along with artist and curator Marta Kepka will share the ins-and-outs of being successful, productive and efficient artists in today’s art world. Both graduates of intensive graduate programs and professionally working as studio artists themselves, John and Marta possess the know-how to navigate the constantly evolving contemporary arts scene as artists, curators and gallery owners. This open forum of discussion is great for those interested in a behind-the-scenes look into the contemporary art industry.   Curatorial Standards is $20.  For details, email " href="mailto:">"> or call 732-927-1317.
