RED BANK, NJ - Open call auditions for Phoenix Productions’ July show, The Music Man, will take place at the Phoenix Rehearsal Center in Red Bank on Saturday and Sunday, May 4th, 5th from 2pm to 5pm and Monday, May 6th from 7:30 to 9:30pm. All roles are open and will remain so until the end of auditions.

The first rehearsal will be in mid-May. Performances will run from July 12th to July 21st at the Count Basie Theatre.

The Music Man is one of the best of the classic musicals with a heart-warming story of loves, both young and old. Around the turn of the 20th century, con-man Harold Hill visits an Iowa town to fleece the residents by pretending to organize a boys’ marching band, but ends up falling for the town librarian. There are songs aplenty as well as great roles for performers of all ages.

Produced by Andrew Zawadzky, the show will be directed by Joe Stefanelli with musical direction by Andrew Macirowski and choreography by Kelly Gemellaro. Joe is a newcomer to Phoenix Productions, but boasts an extensive resume of both performing and directing, capped by a Kennedy Center College Theater Festival nomination as Best Director.

Auditionees should prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song in the style of the “Golden Age of Broadway.” They should also bring clothing suitable for an intense dance audition.
