DEAL, NJ - Continuing a tradition of support to community-based, independent cinemas, Bruce Springsteen and Columbia Records have once again partnered together to offer a widely acclaimed Springsteen film. On Sunday, May 1 @ 8:30 and Monday, May 2 @ 7:30 pm the Axelrod Performing Arts Center, 100 Grant Avenue, Deal will show a special theatrical screening of the The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town.
100% of ticket sales will benefit the Axelrod PAC and Holiday Express, a non-profit organization whose mission is to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support during the holiday season and throughout the year. The benefit screenings will also feature Springsteen merchandise giveaways, with audience members eligible to win The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town BluRay, available at physical and digital retail outlets on May 3rd.
The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge of Town combines never-before-seen footage of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band shot between 1976 and 1978 , including home rehearsals and studio sessions with new interviews with Springsteen, E Street Band members, manager Jon Landau, former-manager Mike Appel, and others closely involved in the making of the record. Directed by Grammy- and Emmy-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny, The Promise has received a rapturous critical response around the world, including at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, the BFI London Festival, and International Rome Film Festival.
