FREEHOLD, NJ - In observance of National Adoption Day, the Monmouth Vicinage will hold a program on Friday, Nov. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room in the lower level of the west wing of the Monmouth County Courthouse, 71 Monument Park, Freehold.
The vicinage looks forward to joining in this collective national effort to celebrate and encourage adoption. Assignment Judge Lawrence M. Lawson said, “The vicinage demonstrates a steadfast commitment to promoting adoptions through our annual Adoption Day program. We have also expanded our focus on increasing awareness and assistance for youth who are aging out of the foster care system.”
Assignment Judge Lawson and family division Presiding Judge Michael A. Guadagno will offer remarks at the program. Other speakers include adoptive parents Brad Beaty and Giuseppe DiPalma, who adopted an 11-year old child from foster care. Jennifer Martelli, child specific recruiter for the Monmouth County Department of Children and Families, will be available to provide information about the adoption process. Attendees also will have the opportunity to speak with staff from the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office and the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) about the adoption of children in foster care.
Adoptions will be finalized for 28 families. Five of the children are aged 12 years or older. Thirteen of the adoptions were arranged through DYFS. The remainder were coordinated through domestic and foreign agencies or private sources.
