TINTON FALLS, NJ – A.J. Perri, Inc., a local heating, cooling and plumbing company, joined forces with Habitat for Humanity this past week as they began a new construction project at the Monmouth Mall. The initial building phase took place on October 21st and ran through October 23rd. With help from A.J. Perri, Inc. and other community volunteers, they got off to a great start!
This home, unlike other Habitat homes, is being constructed in two different locations. The exterior wall panels were completed last weekend and will be moved from the Monmouth Mall to the Patterson, New Jersey, its final location, where the rest of the construction will take place.
A.J. Perri, Inc. has been an active participant with Habitat for Humanity in New Jersey for the past five years. “When a Habitat for Humanity house is being built in this area we handle the heating and air conditioning for the home – exclusively,” states Kevin Perri, President of A.J. Perri, Inc.
In addition to providing the home’s heating & cooling system, A.J. Perri, Inc. also donates the materials and time to physically install everything. The employees at A.J. Perri, Inc. are active in the building phase as well. “Our company has never had a shortage of volunteers to help with the actual building of the Habitat projects. We’re very proud of the active involvement our employees take in these projects,” states Perri.
Habitat for Humanity International, founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, is a non-profit company that’s mission is to be a world leader in addressing the issues of poverty in housing. They seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness. In order to accomplish this goal they invite people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. To date they have built over 300,000 houses (and counting!) around the world, providing more than 1.5 million people in 3,000 communities with safe, decent, and affordable shelter.
Perri states, “It’s a wonderful experience to be able to donate your time and talents and to know that your efforts are helping out friends and neighbors in your community.”
