BRICK, NJ - Dream Factory, Inc comes to the Jersey Shore! We are a volunteer dream-granting organization for critically and chronically ill children in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Part of a national non-profit organization, we depend upon the support of local businesses, individuals and community grants to provide the funds necessary to grant dreams. To qualify for a dream a child must be critically or chronically ill, between the ages of 3 and 18, and not have received a dream granted by another organization.
92% of the funds raised stays within our local chapter to fulfill dreams of local children. We are all volunteers and our national headquarters employs just four employees. It is our mission to fulfill the dreams of critically and chronically ill children. We believe a child does not have to be terminal to get a dream. A chronic illness is life changing and the child is still faced with numerous doctor visits, hospital stays, and time away from their friends.
In order for a child to receive a dream, the family must contact us and fill out an application. We then meet with the family to hear directly from the child what they would like. We have the doctor on our board contact the child’s doctor to get an explanation of the child’s illness and her medical opinion on the child’s ability to achieve the dream. The typical dream costs an average of $3500 to fulfill. We try to include the entire family in a dream. By including the siblings, we are acknowledging that a critical or chronic illness affects everyone in the family. In a way, they are all living with the illness
The Dream Factory of the Jersey Shore needs help in order to be successful. We need children who deserve to have a dream come true, volunteers to make it happen, and the funds to fulfill the dream. Every donation is truly appreciated, no matter how big or small. The dreams we hope to fulfill are as varied as the children who request them and we would be most appreciative for any help be it volunteers, donations or referring children.
There are children in our community who deserve something special and we are here to make their dream come true! You can find more information on our website at www.dreamfactoryincnwj.org. or by calling 732-840-1006. Please do what you can to help.
