Deadline for nominations- December 1

Hillsborough, NJ -  The New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association (NJVMA) is accepting nominations for the 16th Animal Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony at a public awards luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, March 6, 2011. The deadline for nominations is December 1, 2010.

Every year, the NJVMA honors the human animal bond by recognizing special animals that have made a difference in someone’s life and an individual who has had a positive impact on animal welfare. The Animal Hall of Fame has recognized over 50 animals since its inception in 1996.

In order to be considered, all applications must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the animal’s owner explaining: how the animal exhibited special abilities when it mattered most and how the animal demonstrated unselfish and/or courageous accomplishments. It is also required that applicants list the name of their veterinarian on the nomination form.

Nominations maybe submitted via the Animal Hall of Fame page at or mailed to the address provided.

"The Animal Hall of Fame highlights to the public the importance of animals in our everyday lives - whether it is a professional task, such as a police dog or therapy horse, a companionship role, or an individual who has supported the welfare of animals," expressed Dr. Marguerite Hoey, from Arlington Dog & Cat Hospital in Kearny, NJ, a strong supporter of the Animal Hall of Fame.
