KEYPORT, NJ - The Rock'n Music Idol 2010 live finale was held on Sunday, June 6th at the Keyport VFW hall. The finale was a culmination of the 3rd year of the Rock'n Music Idol competition and featured performances by the 22 finalists from throughout the state of New Jersey, as well as special guest winners from past year's of Rock'n Music Idol.
All 22 finalists gave stellar performances that impressed not only the judges, but the sold out crowd as well. Highlights from the show include an incredible rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing", by vocal 7-11 finalist Lianah Sta. Ana, a brilliantly executed drum solo by drum finalist Anthony Flora, and a soulful take on "You're No Good" by vocal 15-17 finalist Alexa Rose Burger. Special guests Brianna Lobue, the 2009 vocal 15-17 winner, Xavier Quiles, the 2009 guitar winner, and Dominic Palombi, the 2009 drum winner, rocked the house with an inspired performance of their original song "Just Let Go" which they wrote for the Rock'n Music Idol competition.
The finalists were judged by a panel of veterans in the music industry, including professional band manager Marie LaDolcetta and professional drummer and recording artist Frank Blanton. The finalists were judged based on style, technique, originality, and star quality.
After carefully analyzing all the performances, the judges selected the following contestants as the winners of Rock'n Music Idol 2010:
Vocal 7-11 Winner- Lianah Sta. Ana, Freehold
Vocal 12-14 Winner- Elijah Boothe, Jackson
Vocal 15-17 Winner- Alexa Rose Burger, Old Bridge
Guitar Winners- Michael Cardella, New Egypt
Sean Olszewski, East Brunswick
Drum Winner- Anthony Flora, Middletown
Keyboard Winner- Carlos Bandera, East Brunswick
Vocal/Instrument Winners- Rachel Calvosa, Freehold and Alexa Mione, Old Bridge
In addition, the judges selected one overall winner for Rock'n Music Idol 2010. They selected the contestant that stood out amongst the 22 finalists and the one that they feel best represents the Rock'n Music Idol competition.
Rock'n Music Idol 2010 Overall Winner- Lianah Sta. Ana, Freehold
She is the judges pick as the top contestant this year out of the over 600 contestants from throughout the state of New Jersey that originally auditioned for the competition back in February. As the overall winner she was awarded with the $500 cash prize.
All of the Rock'n Music Idol 2010 winners will receive professional recording studio time to write and record original songs and a professional photo shoot with famed photographer Mark Weiss (Ozzy Osbourne, Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera).
