Children’s learning Center April 29

Lincroft, NJ —Brookdale Community College’s College Action Team for Sustainability (C.A.T.S.) and Brookdale’s Environmental Club, in partnership with the New Jersey Tree Foundation, will plant 125 trees at the Children’s Learning Center on Brookdale’s Lincroft Campus, Thursday April 29, starting at 11:30 a.m. Brookdale’s Children’s Learning Center is located on Brookdale’s Lincroft Campus in Parking Lot #4. This tree planting is being conducted to celebrate Arbor Day in New Jersey.

C.A.T.S. and the Environmental Club, along with student, faculty, staff, and community volunteers, will plant the trees in the C.A.T.S. Tree Farm adjacent to the Children’s Learning Center into small pots, with the intent of replanting the trees in locations across Brookdale’s Campus. In addition to the tree planting, the volunteers will maintain the trees for a minimum of two years. This includes watering and pruning the trees, as they grow larger. This is the second year that C.A.T.S. and the Environmental Club have participated in the Celebrate Arbor Day program. Last year, 125 trees were planted at Brookdale Community College with help from over 80 student, faculty, staff, and community volunteers.

Brookdale’s C.A.T.S and Environmental Club obtained the free tree seedlings from the New Jersey Tree Foundation as part of their Celebrate Arbor Day program. The New Jersey Tree Foundation offered the free trees to volunteer groups, local governments, non-profit organizations, and scout groups.

The New Jersey Tree Foundation’s Celebrate Arbor Day program has 60 volunteer groups planting over 12,000 trees across the state of New Jersey. For more information regarding the planting event, call 732-224-2344.
