Red Bank, NJ - Diane Gooch, the Monmouth County Republican Vice Chair and newspaper publisher, received the endorsement of the 11th Legislative District Assembly Members in her bid for Congress from New Jersey's 6th district. Part of the "NJ Shore Team" along with Senator Sean Kean, the 11th district includes many communities in the Monmouth County portion of the 6th congressional district. They cited Gooch's experience creating jobs in the private sector and strong connection to so many local community organizations as qualifications that make her the strongest candidate to replace Frank Pallone. Senator Sean Kean had endorsed Gooch's candidacy several weeks ago.
Assemblyman Dave Rible, who also serves as the Republican Whip, stated, "Diane's private sector experience will be a huge asset in Congress. She understands the policies needed to create jobs and stimulate real economic growth." He continued "We are working hard in Trenton to support Governor Christie's pro taxpayer; pro growth policies and it would be great to have a partner in Washington fighting toward the same goal. Diane gets it and will stand against the rapidly expanding control of the federal government in our lives."
In announcing her support of Gooch, Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini said, "Diane is a friend to so many great causes in Monmouth County, including Monmouth Medical Center, Monmouth Conservation Foundation, Monmouth University, and Prevention First, where I serve as the Executive Director. She is deeply connected with our community and will be a strong voice for our concerns in Congress." Angelini went onto say "a big part of the problem with Washington is that they have stopped listening to the people and I am confident Diane will remain connected to our needs in New Jersey."
Gooch most recently earned the support of the Monmouth County Republican Organization Screening Committee, to cap off a month in which she received the screening and convention support of the Middlesex County Republican Organization, and the Somerset County Republican Screening.
Responding to the endorsements, Gooch stated, "Dave Rible and Mary Pat Angelini are outstanding representatives for us in Trenton and I am honored to have their support. They understand the urgent need to control government spending and make New Jersey friendly to taxpayers and job creators again." Gooch concluded, we will work as a team, along with the Governor, to restore our resident's faith that their government is responding to their needs."
The 6th congressional district includes parts of Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset and Union counties.
