To Honor State Senator Jennifer Beck
Hazlet, NJ – State Senator Jennifer Beck is one of three women being celebrated on April 23rd for their influence on 180 Turning Lives Around, a private Monmouth County nonprofit organization dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence, at the agency’s Spring Gala. The theme of the Gala, “Extraordinary Journeys Turning Lives Around,” will highlight both the contributions made by the honorees and the remarkable journeys undertaken by those 180 has helped to escape lives of mental, emotional or physical abuse. The other two honorees are 180 supporter and community advocate Pam Callahan and 180 Board Member Kim Widener.
180 Executive Director Anna Diaz-White praised Sen. Beck, who represents the 12th District, for the role she has played in helping the agency. “Sen. Beck has been a friend of 180 over the years and has been especially supportive of volunteers who give so much of their time and hearts to the Sexual Assault Response Team. Her involvement in encouraging and recognizing these selfless women and men helps keep that team strong and inspired.
“Pam Callahan has been very involved with Families in Transition, which assists women and families who need to start over with temporary apartments, job training, financial counseling and group therapy. Kim Widener has been equally important as someone who has worked tirelessly to garner awareness for expanding our emergency housing. Together, these three women have made important contributions in furthering 180’s mission.”
The event, to be held at the Reception Center at PNC, begins at 7 PM and will be catered by Merrimakers. Party goers will dance to the big band sound of the The Jazz Lobsters. New Jersey Natural Gas will serve as The Gala’s “Strength Sponsor” and Earth Treasures Jewelers will be the event’s “Extraordinary Treasure Sponsor.” Guests will have an opportunity to win diamond stud earrings as well as shop in their boutique, with 20 percent of the proceeds benefitting 180’s programs and services.
“We’re really looking forward to this event,” said Development Director Connie DeSpirito Heath. “When you have remarkable women like Jennifer Back, Pam Callahan and Kim Widener on your side, it feels great to create an occasion that celebrates all they have helped us accomplish.”
