Installation Dinner January 18
Monmouth County, NJ -Two of the County’s regional Chambers of Commerce merged January 1, 2017. The Greater Monmouth Chamber & Monmouth County Chamber will belong to the newly formed Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce “MRCC”. The new Chamber will be representative of businesses throughout Monmouth County and the surrounding region.
This merge will allow the Chamber to better promote the business interests of the members and to more efficiently serve the community. We are extremely excited to continue our commitment to the business community within and around Monmouth County,” stated Elizabeth Mackanic, the incoming Co-Chair of the Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce. Elizabeth continued, “by the merging of our Chamber’s we will continue to give back to the community in a greater and more impactful way and are truly excited for what we will be able to continue to provide for the community as a whole.”
Businesses get an organization that offers the advantages of two organizations for the cost of one membership. As one organization, there are more marketing opportunities, more exposure, more networking connections, and more educational programs. “This is a truly exciting time for our members and the business community throughout Monmouth County. By combining the two Chambers, Monmouth County businesses now have one county wide Chamber to enhance their businesses,” stated Tony Howley, Executive Director of the newly merged Chamber.
Gerald Cioci, incoming Co-Chair of the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce said, “Increasing the regional reach of the Chamber of Commerce allows for continued focus on giving back to the community. Both organizations have been dedicated to giving back to the community. We look forward to continuing this history on a countywide and regional level”.
The Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce was formerly known as the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and has been serving the Western part of Monmouth County for over 85 years, until the early 2000’s when they relaunched with their current name to better serve the community. The Monmouth County Chamber also has a long history within the community. Starting back in 1959 as the Middletown Chamber of Commerce they quickly saw the need to serve the ever-changing business community and changed their name to the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce in 1965 until 2014 when they had their final change to the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce. In May, the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce’s Boards of Directors voted unanimously to approve this merger.
