Highlands, NJ – Clean Ocean Action (COA) invites you to kick off the holiday SEAson and rally round their vital year-round work to protect our ocean at the celebration Fire & Ice, Saturday, December 10th at Windows on the Water (Surfrider Beach Club) in Sea Bright, NJ.
Set against the breath-taking ocean views of this premiere beachfront venue, the night will kick off with a fire inspired cocktail hour featuring libations sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Shore Point Distributors with music by the Taylor Tote Band. Guests can feast on bounty from the sea at the gourmet raw bar provided by The Lusty Lobster, as well as delicious dinner selections by Chef Pete Cruz. The revelry will continue into the night with a blazing beach bonfire outside while inside the evening will heat up with live music from Jersey Shore-based contemporary band, The Haven.
"The ocean provides endless joy and memories year-round whether it is the carefree warm summer days full of sunshine and riding the waves or the serene beauty of a winter snow framed by the silvery sea," said Cindy Zipf COA’s Executive Director. " However, COA’s “Fire & Ice” theme represents more than just changing of the seasons. Clean Ocean Action protects the waters from Cape May to Montauk which are home to a diverse group of nearly 700 species of marine life including over 33 species of whales, dolphins, seals, and 5 of the 7 types of sea turtles. This is partially due to the waters of the warm Gulf Stream and the cool Labrador Current that collide and flourish with life, thus 'Fire and Ice'".
Lisa and Ken Wilson, long-time and dedicated ocean advocates and supporters of Clean Ocean Action are co-chairs of the benefit. “We have enjoyed countless precious days along the shore in all seasons which foster our ongoing promotion of Clean Ocean Action and their important mission. We are honored to chair this important fundraising event that will help protect this amazing resource for our use and the use of future generations. We hope other true-blue friends of the sea will join us in this effort and at Fire & Ice!”
Funds raised from Fire & Ice will support COA’s tenacious, year-round work to keep the ocean clean and safe for all to enjoy and will provide essential support for the organization’s variety of successful programs including educational resources and activities, state of the art scientific research, water quality monitoring, community and citizen action campaigns and so much more. In every season, like the ever-flowing currents, COA’s work continues to protect the ocean, surroundings waterways, and their resources.
