LINCROFT, NJ - “Digging for Roots in the Garden State” will be the topic at the September 11, 2016 Monmouth County Genealogy Society General Meeting at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Center, 72 Broad Street, Eatontown. The speaker will be Michelle Chubenko, a professional genealogist whose company, Jersey Roots Genealogy, performs research utilizing statewide sources at the NJ State Archives and other local repositories for Northern and Central Jersey.
Michelle will explore with us the top 10 websites for researching Jersey roots. From online indexes to scanned records, she will explain how to access historical material spanning three centuries, discovering material for the seeker of colonial information as well as those digging for more recent documentation.
As a professional genealogist, Michelle Chubenko has more than 24 years of experience in researching families in New Jersey, Maryland, southwest Virginia, and Oklahoma/Indian Territory. Her projects include urban and immigrant research in nineteenth and twentieth century New Jersey. Chubenko was a researcher on TLC’s Who Do You Think You Are (Season One) and appeared in the Brooke Shields episode, which aired in April 2010.
