Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast to Paint it Forward
LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast (PAPJC) will host a special Art Exhibition and Sale from 5-8 pm on Sunday, August 21 at the historic Monmouth Beach Bath & Tennis Club (MBBT) to benefit FCS (Family & Children’s Service), Monmouth County’s oldest, private, nonprofit social service agency.
“Paint It Forward” will feature more than 150 original works from 30 local artists, many of whom are nationally known for their plein air work. Proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships and 40% of artwork sales will help support FCS’s 14 diverse programs, including homelessness prevention, health and respite care, long-term care planning and Medicare counseling.
“We are delighted that the Plein Air Painters have selected our agency as the beneficiary of their bi-annual art exhibition,” says FCS CEO Delly Beekman. “These are outstanding, award-winning local artists and we are very grateful for the opportunity to benefit from their extraordinary talent.”
The Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast (PAPJC) is a group of artists who work “en plein air,” a term that is used to describe painting that is done outdoors. Started in 2003 with just a handful of artists, the organization now includes more than 50 members. PAPJC often paints as a group, drawing inspiration from the varied seascapes and landscapes that make up the Jersey Coast. PAPJC founder and Paint it Forward organizer Judy Stach says the natural elements play an important role in their work.
“Wind, rain, and light require spontaneity rarely encountered in the studio.
The challenge of capturing a shadow on a water lily pad, or the light as it hits the curl of a wave, keeps us coming back to our craft,” Stach explains.
“We are honored to again to bring our show to Monmouth Beach Bath & Tennis Club to benefit FCS. Please join us and understand the beauty we see in our home. We live in paradise!”
