Sister of WWII Soldier to Receive NJ Medal During the Ceremony

HOLMDEL, NJ - Neil Lucey was just 18-years-old when he joined the United States Navy. He reported for duty March 12, 1940. Just 19 months later he would lose his life at Pearl Harbor, two days after his 20th birthday. His body is one of 1,177 entombed in the USS Arizona.

 

Now, 75 years later, Neil's sister, Marie Lucey Liston who is 101 years old, will accept a medal on his behalf during the Remembrance Day ceremony.

Three medals will be presented during the Remembrance Day Ceremony, NJ Distinguished Service Medal, NJ Meritorious Service Medal and the NJ Vietnam Service Medal. Guest speakers for the ceremony include Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno and Adjutant General of New Jersey Brigadier General Michael Cunniff.
