READ ACROSS AMERICA DAY is celebrated every year across the nation to honor the beloved children’s author, Dr. Seuss. Children and their parents are encouraged to attend this fun, lively and interactive event which will encourage the love of reading.
The event will feature musical entertainment by Disc Jockey Steve Munger of No Limit Entertainment; balloon designing by Rick Jones of White Knight Balloons; face-painting by Christine Conrad of Middletown High School South; button-making; snacks, beverages and dessert cake; free souvenirs; and facilitated group reading circles. Dr. Seuss bookmarks and stickers will be given to all reading circle participants, and children can also keep the buttons and balloons made especially for them. To engage the children and to make reading time more exciting, canine companions and their volunteer handlers will attend to interact with the children and to listen while Dr. Seuss stories are read aloud. The volunteers and their therapy dogs work through the Monmouth County SPCA. Nancy Kravis of Nancy Kravis Photography will capture the event in photos.
