MIDDLETOWN, NJ - A school bus and tractor trailer collided around 7AM this morning on State highway 35 near the intersection of New Monmouth Road. Emergency personnel are currently working to extricate a bus driver from the wreckage.
The bus driver was the sole occupant of the bus.
The driver of the tractor trailer fled the accident on foot. Police do not have him yet in custody.
NorthSTAR helicopter is enroute to the nearby landing zone and will fly the bus driver to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.
Southbound Rte 35 will be closed for about 4 hours according to Dep. Chief Stephen F. Dollinger.

(UPDATE 10:08): The Asbury Park Press reports the bus collided with the parked tractor trailer.
The driver was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
(UPDATE 11:00) Middletown Police will not release the name of the bus driver at this time. They have not yet found or identified the tractor trailer driver.
Although they were aware of the recent arrival of the bus driver, Jersey Shore University Medical Center cannot release information about the condition of the patient without a name.
(UPDATE 12:55) According to Deputy Chief Dollinger, police still have not identified or located the truck driver. There is no information on what the truck was carrying.
(UPDATE 1:25) Police have identified the bus driver as Beverly Cerbone, age 65, from Port Monmouth, NJ. She was flown to Jersey Shore with non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver was not in the truck at the time of the crash. Police have identified the truck driver and are working with the trucking company to locate him.
(UPDATE 2:52) Police are not releasing the name or residence of the truck driver at this time. Charges will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation which is still pending.
