HOWELL, NJ – Forty-four firefighters have died in the line of duty in Monmouth County. At 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, Monmouth County officials and hundreds of firefighters from around the County will gather at the Monmouth County Fire Academy to honor them.
A carnation will be placed at the foot of the Fallen Firefighters monument for each of the 44 fallen firefighters. The monument is located outside the Fire Academy at 1027 Highway 33 East.
Following the memorial, an awards ceremony will be held and medals will be distributed to firefighters who have gone above and beyond the call of duty during the past year.
Remarks will be made by Fire Marshal Henry Stryker III and Freeholder John P. Curley.
