RED BANK, NJ - The leaves have barely started to turn colors and the beginning of Autumn is not officially until Wednesday, but The Salvation Army Red Bank Corps already has FREE FALL CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS and Christmas in their hearts and minds! On Monday, September 21, 2015, registration will take place for children interested in the Corps’ Children’s Programs. There are several from which to choose and one, if not all, will certainly be of interest.
The Salvation Army Music and Arts Academy returns for their second season under the direction of Lieutenants Brennen and Allison Hinzman, also instructed by Dean and Siran Farrar. This program runs every Monday from 4 to 6:30 PM, teaching all the students music theory, giving them a chance to be in the chorus and additionally choosing between instrument instruction and dance. The program will begin Monday, September 28th at its regular time.
Returning this season after several years are the Adventure Corps, for boys aged 6 to 13, Sunbeams, for girls aged 6 to 10, and Girl Guards for girls aged 11 to 13. These programs teach a myriad of lessons and all three are scheduled for every Thursday, from 4 to 5 PM.
- Adventure Corps gives boys the opportunity to work hard on earning emblems such as hiking, camping, carpentry, career work, theater arts, sports, archery and much more: about 100 different emblems can be earned! Although the group’s history is young, they continue The Salvation Army’s dedication to creating a safe, fun, message-bound program for youth.
- Sunbeams emphasizes the importance of growing spiritually, mentally, physically and socially through fun activities, field trips, camps, service projects, earning activity emblems and so much more! It creates a safe environment for girls to be themselves, have fun, deepen their relationship with God, gain self-confidence and discover the impact they can have on the world.
- Girl Guards helps build self-confidence, explore positive options, learn about potential careers, learn about the world, discuss current events, take part in volunteer opportunities, delve further into the Bible and discover how they can make a positive impact.
NEW this season, in collaboration with Coach Matthew Butler of Christian Brothers Academy, the Red Bank Corps will offer Jiu Jitsu where students aged 7 through 18 can learn self-defense techniques while getting fit. It also teaches self-discipline and opportunities to challenge themselves and within the group. This program runs every Thursday from 6 to 7 PM.
Following right after Jiu Jitsu, will be Wrestling. This will be offered for boys only, Thursdays from 7 to 8 PM.
Not only do these programs offer positive enrichment in a safe environment, they are also free of charge. As anyone who has children registered in extra-curricular activities knows these activities can be quite costly, especially when siblings are included. The Red Bank Corps wishes to create these opportunities for the children in our service areas. For children enrolled in two or more of our Thursday programs, dinner will also be included, from 5 to 6 PM.
For any questions about the programs and/or to register, please feel free to contact Lieutenant Allison Hinzman at 732 747-1626, extension 107 or Allison.email@example.com. Visit and LIKE us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/RedBankCorpsTSANJ.
