The New Jersey branch of E-ZPass released the following statement regarding the scam: “New Jersey drivers should know that legitimate toll violation notices are sent by mail, not email, from the E-ZPass Customer Service Center in Newark, NJ. The web address for paying a legitimate violation to agencies in the New Jersey E-ZPass Group is www.EZPassNJ.com.”
The fraudulent email, designed with the E-ZPass logo and color scheme, attempts to trick recipients into submitting payment for an unpaid toll. The fake violation notice contains a hyperlink that leads to a website requesting credit card information. This website is not affiliated with E-ZPass in any way.
